“Unanswered Letters”

Created for an indoor percussion ensemble, this full show design features original music of my own composition, as well as material from Adele’s '“Hello” interspersed (arranging permissions acquired for performances).

The scope of my work for this project involved creating the full show conceptual package, including the story arc and pacing, original music compositions, musical arrangements, sound design, electronics programming, and visual design.

Additionally, with the full show design I acted in project management roles, coordinating with the costume designers, voice actress, moment choreographer, and floor producer for the custom printed uniform tops and 42’x’60’ vinyl printed tarp.

Goals:

• Custom music arrangements to communicate show concept and pedagogical requirements of the ensemble.

Notes:

This show was performed by a competitive high school indoor percussion ensemble in both a regional circuit as well as with Winter Guard International’s percussion division.

This season the ensemble sought to explore the range of storytelling emotions for their show and thus required a show concept to provide more opportunities for students to explore their performance ranges. Pedagogical goals for the ensemble required a tighter show pacing and shorter show length.
