A series of guitar modules created for a Music Therapy course at Illinois State University.

Video created for MUS294 Guitar Module 2: This Land Is Your Land. Subsequent videos also model the strumming pattern, vocal melody, score, and chord changes .

About the Project

MUS 294 is a course taken by all music therapy students at Illinois State University. This course has students completing a series of guitar modules over the course of a semester to assess basic skills. Along with these guitar modules are a series of model videos for the students to reference in preparation, planned and designed with inclusive and equitable design principles in mind.

Previous videos were lower resolution with low bitrate audio and due for an update. The videos I created for these module not only provide an increase in video and audio quality, but also are designed to better support student learning. The videos now include the score for the repertoire, chord overview segments, and synchronized chord symbol visualizer.

Software:

  • Adobe Premier Pro

  • Adobe Illustrator

  • Avid Sibelius

Learning Objective:

  • By the end of the modules, students will know how to perform the required repertoire in the specified key signatures.

Notes:

This example video is one of a series created for the guitar modules. These are meant to be model references for the assessments. The series of videos over the course of the guitar modules are meant to support the development of a foundational skill set on the guitar.
